PERSONAL RECOLLECTIONS

In 1962/63 I was a paper-lad at Jackson's - between 'The Spec' and 'The Middle House'.

My round started at No.1 THE DRIVE and ended at No.2 !   I went up SOUTH AVENUE, along ESKDALE CRESCENT and down NORTH AVENUE.
Aged 14/15, I delivered morning and evening newspapers (Mon. to Sat.) for the princely sum of 30 shillings per week.  Wow!
When her back door was open, I left Mrs McGee's paper stuck in her yard fence - her corgi was a maneater!

I met my future wife, the lovely Laura, purely by chance at the bottom of The Drive.
She was heading home to North Avenue, eating Lottie's fish & chips.
Pretty soon, I was too.   The rest is history!
