Jeremiah (Jerry) Sparks was born in Waterloo Cottages, Usworth, 20th Oct 1925.
He married my Aunt Iris Pattison in 1947 and they lived at 4 Clyde Terrace, Brady Square.
They later moved to Richmond Avenue in Washington Village. Jerry worked at Washington âFâ Pit and
transferred to Cotgrave Colliery, Nottinghamshire in 1967, prior to the closure of Washington 'F' Colliery in 1968.

Julian Griffiths (South Nottinghamshire Area Director) wasn't well known in the North East Coalfield.
From 1984-85, the Chairman of the National Coal Board certainly was!

Jerry's parents were Matthew (Coal Hewer) and Catherine Sparks (née Hannah).
