Note The Burn, passing Usworth Hall & Waterloo before travelling under the Bridge on The Leamside Line, en route to The River Don.
Back upstream, The Burn passed along Don Gardens and was often mistakenly referred to as the River Don.
The Burn is, in fact, a Tributary of the River Don.

The Main Line from Newcastle to Sunderland.
The Leamside Line branches right to Washington passing Wardley, Follingsby and Usworth Collieries en route.
The Tyne &Wear Metro continues to Sunderland and also crosses over the Main Line to South Shields.

THE LEAMSIDE LINE
Running North from Durham, via Penshaw, Washington & Usworth, The Leamside Line was part of the Original Railway from Newcastle to London.
