I think the second highest building was the Library.

Washington Secondary / Grammar School
( Spout Lane )
Known to 1960s pupils as the 'Old Physics Building'. The original school faced Spout Lane.

THE OLD LIBRARY BLOCK
Part of the original Secondary / Grammar School (Pre-1957). It backed onto the 'Old Physics Building'.

The Pillars & Steps lead to the Old Library. There are four classrooms, two on each side.

The Steps pass the (southerly) Cloakroom and lead to Spout Lane.

BEHIND THE OLD LIBRARY BLOCK
That's the Cloakroom in the previous picture. The building projecting out on the right was Miss Walton's Music Room.
The Music Room obscures the other end of the Old Library Block.
This Block backed onto the rear of the 'Old Physics Building' on Spout Lane (off-picture, right) which contained the
Old Secondary / Grammar School Hall, the Physics Laboratory and the Woodwork & Metal Work Rooms.
